Can I down load TheSyX Professional on both my lap top computer and on my observatory computer?

adding Shelyak SPOX calibration and flat lamp control into Sky X professional

Hi there,

I hope that this question is one that hasn't been asked before, and I missed any replies. I am modifying my Shelyak LHiresIII spectrograph for remote operation. My current remote imaging system works wonderfully (MEII, 16"RC).

Jeff Dickerman and I have completed modifications to remotely adjust the unit's grating center frequency, and I have received a SPOX, which is a remote control to turn on and off the Calibration and Flat field lamps. Since Jeff didn't work on the SPOX I don't wish to bother him with this but I'm not much of a computer tech, but the guys at Shelyak wrote me and said the their unit could easily be incorporated into SkyX as it would be seen as an "ascom-compliant switch box". OK...now I'm lost...can you "translate" for this "old-school" astronomer please? I'd love to be able to do the flats and calibrations within SkyX!

Regards to all of you, and thanks for this great software and hardware. I'm proud to be one of your customers.

Sidereal Tracking failure

Good Afternoon Brian,

I am an astronomer at the Bayley Observator in Barbados. For a couple of years now, Our primary instrument is a Meade LGX600 Reflector motivated by a Paramount ME II with SKY X running in a Windows 7 enviironment.

For a couple of years now the Sky X has been loosing communication intermittently with the Paramount ME II. Recently when any attempt  to to connect to the telescope and activate the Sidereal Tracking Function; an error 201 or 203 is generated. Windows 7 also indicates that an unknown USB device is connected. Despite  our resolute efforts we cannot successfully troubleshoot the problem.

Please advise a solution.

Ricardo.

Pre-sale questions on MX+

Hello,

I'm interested in purchasing an MX+ for a legacy 16" TPO truss tube scope (77 lbs without focuser). I understand 14" scopes + accessories can be carried on the MX+, but could a 16" be carried with light accessories (staying below the 100 lb maximum)?

I'm also interested in satellite tracking with the above outfit. As I understand, this is integrated into the base version of TheSkyX? I am at an academic institution and this would be for research purposes (satellite ranging and optical communications).

Cheers,

Chris

Angular Separation

My SkyX will not give the angular separation with reference to a planet. It works from star to star not from planet to anything that I can find. I click on Jupiter and then Venus, for example, and it only shows click distance = 0.00. It used to work, what's up with this?

Nikon Z6

Hello,

I installed O'telescope BackyardNIKON for a Nikon Z6 camera on my telescope  I had an error code 215.  I then ask Guylain Rochon from O,Telescope how to configure BackyardNOKON and was instructed to look at the port number provided when opening BackyardNIKON settings (port 1499) and choose that port on The Sky X ProCamera Settings, Backyard EOS/Nikon port number: 1499.

The error code changed to 206.  I was told by Guylain to further ask Software Bisque to look on that matter.

I have to make a presentation on a CCD seminar in Mirabel (near Montreal) next week, on November 24, 2019.  My presentation is about a home made hardware called: NO-MAD.  Basically it is a transportable CCD telescope (Takahashi FSQ-106 and Nikon Z6) and a hardware Box containing: Minix NEO N42-C4 computer with a USB hub, Tp-link Wi-Fi USB travel Router, a Rig Runner DC power fuse box, an Electronic focus module and different DC power reduction module that sits on top of the telescope.  The main objective is to remotely access the telescope (camera, Minix computer, focusser etc.)  functionalities using The Sky X Pro through a personal Laptop computer sitting in a car using TeamViewer  within wifi range of the telescope and have a well thought wire management, only having one wire going to the ground to a 12 V 100A  Lithium battery . The presentation include a Hands-on test of all equipment connected to the telescope. including the Nikon Z6 and I still can not figure out what is wrong to properly access it through The Sky X Pro.

Can you help?

Thank you for your prompt response.

I am interested in the Paramount MyT mount for my 6 inch refractor.  However, I would like to use

the mount with a wooden tripod because of its superior damping qualities.  I would like to know

if it is possible to mate the Paramount MyT mount with a wooden tripod.  Is there a tripod you could

recommend?

Unable to Achieve Accurate Polar Alignment

$

After successfully completing a rough polar alignment on star Fomalhaut, I attempted an accurate polar alignment on TheSkyX which was connected to my Taurus 400 Fork Mount. The alignment failed. I tried again with Rigel with the same results. The consistent error message I got was: “the astrometric solution failed. Error=655”. I couldn’t find what Error=655 means. I assume it could mean that the mount is not level and/or properly physically aligned with True North. I noticed that I had to adjust azimuth to the eastern most limit of the Taurus 400 mount’s travel and that the mount was level in the N-S direction, but a bubble level width out of level in the E-W direction. The mount is very heavy with a Planewave CDK 17 attached to the Taurus 400 Fork Mount which itself is attached to a heavy offset pier which is bolted to a 2 foot high flat concrete pilar. Before installing the Taurus 400 mount onto the offset pier, I measured the top of the pier to be level in all directions. It wasn’t until attaching the fork mount and telescope, that I noticed the level off in the E-W direction. I checked the 12 inch 5/8 inch threaded rod that was epoxied in place with the recommended concrete epoxy with 8” of each rod sunk into drilled holes in the concrete pilar. All 4 mounting points are secure and haven’t moved.

I’m considering doing two things. First: I plan to raise the entire mounting system about 1/4 to 1/2 inch above the concrete pilar so I can rotate the slotted bolt holes in the offset pier so that it will point about 1/2-3/4 inch toward the east. This will allow me to adjust the azimuth correction on the Taurus Mount off the eastern stop limit so that it is more centered. Second: I plan to insert shims in strategic places around the base of the offset pier so the Taurus Mount is level in all directions. I’m asking if this could be the fix I need to achieve an accurate polar alignment or if there is/are additional adjustments I need to make.

Thank you.

TheSky Fusion Support for , TSX Windows, Domes and External Hard

I am very interested in the TheSky Fusion product - some questions:

1.  If one currently has a TSX Window subscription, does it transfer to Linux OS for Fusion?  If not, what is the cost for TSX Linus if one owns a TSX Window subscription ?

2. Does Fusion support TSX Dome add-on - I have an ash dome running Astrometric DomePro2 system currently running under TSX Window on my Intel NUC PC

3. Does Fusion allow for an external drive for more storage - via USB3 ... a future upgrade could include Thunderbolt3 connector?

Thanks

Jason

REQUEST OF TECHNICAL SUPPORT FOR A PARAMOUNT MX+ FOR CITY TOWER OBSERVATORY IN MEXICO CITY

Dear friends of Software Bisque, I need your help.

I am in charge of an observatory that I designed and built in the heart of Mexico City. The observatory is the highest installed in Mexico City (26th floor). The building is called City Tower Black which is a VIP condominium for 800 families and is part of the tenant's amenities. For the observatory, select a Paramount MX + mount and the WiSky MKS 5000 system that was also purchased at the time. This mount supports a Takahashi TOA-150 telescope. All this instruments were purchased at OPT on April 2016, but it took three years to leave the building ready and this observatory is just going to open.

I installed the mount on a pedestal according to the specifications and design that you mark in your diagrams. But it doesn't work, the mount turns on, it makes its power signals and its indicator lights are on, but with the Hand Controller Joystick installed it doesn't respond. There is no movement of the motors in their AR and DEC axes.I have placed the RA Worm Block Switch in its position, but there is no movement or sound that the electric motors are running.I have only installed the Counterweight shaft to do the test. This mount has a different Lock Position according to the manual that I have that is: “Paramount MEII and Paramount MX Robotic Telescope System User Guide” Revision 1.69 august 2013.

Already check the Electronic Box.Verify that there is no damage inside, carefully disconnect all the connectors that reach it.Check each contact that its terminals were not be damaged.I have not yet disassembled RA and DEC Worm Blocks Covers to check for continuity the cables that reach each motor, I don't know if it is correct to do it, or not.

Also install the MKS 5000 USB circuit in the Electronic Box according to the instructions, when turning on the main power switch the circuit turn on its lights.

The computer purchased for this telescope is an ASUS brand and has the Windows operating system.Properly install the TheSkyX Professional Edition program that came with the Paramount MX + to control the mount, but does not flash or communicate with the mount via the USB cable or WiFi.

Could you advise me what should I do so that I can correct this fault?

These are my mount data:

Paramount MX+ Serial Numbers

MOUNT IDENTIFIER: A00732

SERIAL NUMBER: {redacted}

PARAMOUNT MX+ SOFTWARE SOITE SERIAL NUMBER: {redacted}

WISKY++ MKS 5000

Best regards, I await your kind comment
Sincerely

We need the help!

Good afternoon,

we are writing from Russia, we have some problems with our item, we'll try to describe the problem detailed.

Mount Failure

When the mount is turned on, two signals should sound in a while: the gearbox of the right ascension axis is ready for operation and the gearbox of the declination axis is ready for operation.

One signal sounds only, the one corresponding to the gearbox of the right ascension axis. At the same time, a weak noise of a rotating mechanism is heard in the gearbox of the declination axis. This noise does not stop, and the second signal corresponding to the readiness of the gearbox of the declination axis does not sound.

They opened the cover of the gearbox of the declination axis and shot a video. On the video, one can hear the enable signal of the mount, the signal of readiness for operation of the gearbox of the right ascension axis. The mechanism of the gearbox of the declination axis continues to rotate and the signal of readiness does not sound.

After giving the “home” command from the remote control, the mount starts moving along the right ascension axis only; there is no movement along the declination axis. Meanwhile, the transmission mechanism in the gearbox of the declination axis continues to rotate. After stopping the mount, the signals do not sound.

We also attached the video file, which can help you to understand us.

We really need you advice how we can correct this problem.

Thanks in advance.

We wait for the feedback.

PS: we have one more video file, but it's too large to be attached, if there any other way to sent it ?
