Hi Guys

A Dec plunger on my MX+ mount crapped out on me while adjusting the set screw, with a spring popping up so need to order a couple of spares!

Couldn't see them under the products page so wondering how I go about getting a couple sent out to me and how I go about paying.

And also couldn't see a link to the front desk to ask the question of where to order.

Cheers

Nothing imports from web. Downloading file from IAU and importing is still nothing.

I have read the posts on here and nothing helps. I have last update installed.

Problem establishing link to ME II

Sir,

As my long and trusted ME mount had failed, I purchased, a new ME II mount, two weeks ago, to keep me going whilst diagnosing the problem with the old mount.

The new ME II mount and Polar Alignment Scope arrived and was installed in the observatory, along with telescope and software and applied all settings incl correct comport etc. The mount appeared to perform correctly. However after polar alignment, which was difficult due to an issue that (CEO Steve is looking into) and the fact that the temperature was about 48F and the internal cables were very stiff. I managed to get decent alignment.

On powering up after the above, and running Sky X When I tried to connect to the mount, it would say mount not homed, do want to home it. On clicking yes, I would then receive, two error messages Comm-TimeOut = 21002,  followed by Connection Auto Terminated = 213. It's as though the computer is talking to the mount, but the mount is NOT talking to the computer.

Steps I have taken to resolve the issue. Observed RA Led and DEC Led flash on start up, and then Dec Led is constant on, and RA Led continues to flash. Purple Led on constantly. Along with one or two beeps.

Tried re-installing all software and drivers, exactly the same problem.

Tried a different computer same problem.

Tried a brand new USB cable,  same problem.

Due to the stiffness of the cables on polar alignment, I thought  a cable plug may have come off the circuit board, I very carefully after powering down the mount, removed the back plate to inspect the electronics board, I found one on the USB cables had become unplugged. I then refitted the plug, re-installed the back plate, sadly the fault still remained.

I have also noticed that in this state of (Not Connected) the mount is driving backwards i.e. west to east?

I don't understand this.

I would be very grateful for Software Bisque's help in solving this problem, and a swift response would be greatly appreciated. My new mount Yours sincerely

There seems to be an issue with the CanSetPierSide Property, perhaps just for Paramount.  Although the Property reports False, SideOfPier does report correctly.

So, any software that needs this Property will first check CanSetPierSide will see False, then proceed to calculate an assumed Side of Pier.

This is a minor but significant issue, affecting performance, especially near the Zenith.

I am switching to a Mac and have purchased TheSkyX Serious Astronomer Edition for Windows. Is it possible to transfer my license to Mac? I tried to download the Mac version and it said Access Denied.

Thanks, Steve.

Taurus mount size questions

I am considering a Taurus 400 OAE mount to carry a 16" R-C scope.  I must, however, stay below a 92" height restriction in my rolloff observatory (that could, with some difficulty, be increased to 100").  Thus, I am critically interested in the physical height of the Taurus 400 OAE at the declination pivot point (at 32 degrees north latitude).

I would also need to know the interior spacing between the fork arms and the distance from the declination axis to the base of the fork so I can figure out whether my imaging setup will be able to swing through the bottom of the fork.

At a later date, a drawing of the base of the mount would be useful so I can drill and tap holes in my pier plate to accept the mount.

Is a dimensioned drawing of the Taurus 400 available?

Thanks.

Terry

Problem with The SkyX First Light Edition

Hello,

last year we bought a telescope with your program on a cd. The sky chart was really great and helped us a lot. Later, I had problems with my computer (Windows 7), so I had to buy a new one (Windows 8). I tried to re-install the program The SkyX First Light Edition, but something is going wrong. After installing, I cannot edit my location and time, so the chart is not displayed  correctly. The system shows a message about an error and shuts the program. Maybe I am doing something wrong. I would be grateful if you could consult me on this problem.

Sincerely,

Irina

MyT and MX+ sideral tracking noise

Today I got a presentation and hands-on with the MyT here in Germany to help me decide whether this mount suits my needs, and I was amazed with its capabilities. From a function and capabilities point of view I am ready to go.

But we encountered one limitation for my intended use: The sideral tracking rattling noise and resonance, which can be heart even 5-10 meters away from the mount. From the comments and the videos here in the site I understand it is normal both for the MyT and MX+ and this normally isn't an issue when used in the field.

Due to space limitations my private observatory is quite close to the sleeping room windows of our and the neighbours houses. From my experience with similar low frequency noise I know it can disturb people trying sleep with open windows during summer. I already had to change other hardware because this happened.

Is there any solution for this problem? Can a custom dampening modification be ordered for the mount?

Thanks

Carl

Howdy, I see that the release notes say that this is compatible with XP and Vista. Neither of those have been supported by Microsoft in quite a while. Have you updated the products to support Windows 7 or Windows 10 yet? Interested in your product but, if it doesn't work on the operating systems I have, I can't get there from here. :)

Hello, I'm very interested in getting a MyT. I live in East Tennessee and was wondering if you could advise on how I might actually get to see one in person before I pull out the check book. Is there a dealer or retailer within a few hours drive of the Knoxville area or do you have a contact nearby who might volunteer to give me a look-see?

Thanks very much, and Happy Holidays !

MyT Mount Purchase

Hi - If I place an order today for the MyT, when might I realistically expect  it to ship? Also, I plan to use a Canon 300 F2.8 and 1DxMII camera for the initial payload (combo weighs about 12 lbs).  Where could I find options for mounting it to the MyT? And lastly I have an old but good Celestron CI-700 tripod which I have adapted with a central 3/8 x16 std camera mount. Is there a way to utilize that for the MyT? Thanks so much for your assistance... - Art Morrison

problems getting SkyX pro to behave correctly with PME

Hello

I have been using Sky v6 with a Paramount ME for many years reliably and have just switched to SkyX pro. Running the latest version on Win7.  I'm now feeling like a newbie, as pointing is way off and I don't seem to be able to get a synch to work at all. I have the correct time and lat/long entered as far as I can tell. No pointing cursor showing either and slew limits are getting in the way too (slew limits errors appearing with every slew attempt)

Are there other settings I am missing for the PME and SkyX?

thanks

Guy

The SkyX Professional Edition for Windows - Licensing

Hi Daniel, I purchased a mini computer.  My intention is to uninstall The SkyX Pro from my current computer, and then reinstall to my new mini computer, which will be hooked up to my mount. I will connect to the mini via wireless.  In effect, I will be running only one copy per license agreement.  I also use T-point and the camera add-on.

Is this feasible? Is there anything I need to know.  I believe I have registered the software.

Thank you.

Mount suggestion request

I currently have a Celestron 1100 Edge HD SCT with Hyperstar and ZWO ASI071MC camera as well as a 60mm guide scope and camera.  My question is which of your mounts would allow me to get reliable tracking for Astrophotography using the aforementioned equipment?
