I have been following the instructions on http://www.gemini-2.com/theSkyX_to_Gemini.php to connect my laptop to my G-11 but have run into a snag. I installed the ASCOM 6.3 driver then installed the Gemini .net driver. This web page is five years old but I have found nothing newer so have to assume this is still accurate information.
I then followed the instructions to open TheSkyX and selected Start Up > Telescope Setup... > Mount > ASCOM Mount.
Under Mount Setup > Settings...> pulldown, I selected Gemini Telescope .NET
In the Properties... > under Communications: Com Port: I selected Ethernet
The popup window shows:
Use UDP Port: 11110 selected
NetBIOS Name Resolution checked
Gemini IP Address: gemini
Password: <empty>
Bypass proxy checked
I hit OK
After this I would have expected to be able to change the Latitude and Longitude but I could not. This didn't seem necessarily wrong so I hit OK in this window too.
I hit OK in the ASCOM Telescope Chooser window.
I then tried to connect to the mount in Mount Setup > Connect
At this point I got Error: command failed. Error=206
Thinking that I might need to recycle the power on the laptop to activate the newly installed drivers, I did so. I went through the same procedure and got the same result.
I used two separate connection configurations. The first was with an Ethernet crossover cable since my laptop only has 10/100 Ethernet. The second was to use an Ethernet switch with two standard Ethernet Cat 5 cables. I got the same result in each case.
Another wrinkle, when I installed the Gemini driver, I allowed the desktop icon to be installed too. I tried using the GUI to do the same thing and got the same results. I killed the GUI then tried to bring it back up. This time I got a message saying that it was already running and I had to kill it. But I don't see it in my Task Manager. The only way I knew how to kill it was to reboot the laptop. Is there a better way?
Thanks for any help you can provide in resolving these issues.
