Where is my serial number for the Sky X Serious?

Hi,

It seems I have lost my serial number for the SkyX Serious edition. Problem is I know I received this as a gift a couple of Christmases ago but I can't seem to find the disk, if there was one.

Wouldn't I have this in my subscription list?

Thanks

I have a CCDSoft Version 5 serial number from a purchase of an SBIG camera.  How can I find out if I can upgrade to TheSkyX pro?

Mini USB Port

When plugging the square end of the standard mini USB cable connector into the mini USB 2.0 port, the mini USB port separated from the electronics board.  I removed the rectangular piece which had housed the port, and removed the now loose mini port.  It looks as though the mini port had been soldered onto the board as there were two small "mounds" of solder where the port had been stalled originally.

I would like to know the best methodology for re-attaching the mini port to the board, and ensuring the connection to the board re-establishes operational connectivity to the cable connector.

The MYt is no longer under warranty, as I purchased it from OPT May of 2015.  Thanks for your help.

Upgrade Purchase

Software Bisque Team:

I have used The Sky for many years. I started with Version 2.0 and upgraded to version 2.11. Level IV, then upgraded to Version 4, Level IV (Serial # removed), then upgraded to Version 5.

I have recently retired and I am getting ready to try my hand at Astrophotography.

Unfortunately, I have been unable to locate my The Sky, Version 5. I am pretty sure that I registered it with you and I am considering the purchase of your "Serious" version and my question is; Is there upgrade pricing, or, will I have to pay the initial purchase full price?

Thank you and best regards, Bruce Berk

Hi,

I have a Paramount ME with pretty badly worn down worm gears.

I found the worm assemblies for other mounts on your store but I was unable to find them for the ME. Are these replacement parts available and if so how much do they cost?

Thanks!

Hello, I own a Celestron Nexstar 90gt telescope and have recently purchased a Celestron Neximage Burst solar system imager. The 90gt came bundled with Sky X first light. I know I need to upgrade to something that will control the scope for tracking and imaging purposes. Will  Serious and TPoint add on work with the Icap software that comes with the imager or do I need pro and the camera add on.

Telescope control scripting using J2000 coordinates / iTelescope

I'm medically retired and have trouble with complex tasks but miss my astronomy hobby.  Toward that end, iTelescope has been a godsend, no doubt.  However, I need a software package that offers tools powerful enough for my good days yet streamlined enough for my bad days.  I'm hoping that TheSky will live up to my expectations.  In order to do that, it needs to do the following.  Can someone help me?  Thanks

  1. Store the location name, surface coordinates and altitude for iTelescope's observatories along with the time zone with each relative to it's offset from GMT. This information should persist without alteration between and during sessions.
  2. Deep Sky objects Should be locatable by a search engine inside the application.  Ideally, this search engine should be able to import or federate with databases in common use or published by other authorities and associations within or associated wit the astronomy community.
  3. Coordinates should include J2000 RA/D, which is used exclusively by iTelescope.
  4. Provide transit times for chosen days to plan likely observation and photography times.

If it did all of this, it would make it much easier for this damaged man to continue his love of astronomy.  Please let me know as answers arise.  Thanks!

Import list of RA/Dec from file?

Hi, it would be very useful to import a list of objects, from a text file, that aren't currently searchable in SkyX according to their RA and Dec. For instance, when following up on new novae from astronomical telegrams, one has to enter RA and Dec manually each time that object is desired, and the object's RA/Dec are then lost when a new object's RA/Dec are manually entered. Since comet, asteroid, and satellite databases can be easily updated when a new target is desired, it seems relatively simple to implement an import function for stars.

Thanks!

SkyX Serious Compatibility w/ Ramona Technology GOII (go-to) system

Software Bisque,

I am looking at purchasing SkyX Serious but need information on compatibility with my two mounts. Both are old technology but in excellent condition. I'm not sure SkyX is compatible.

Mount #1,

Losmandy G-11 using digital setting circles, JMI encoders with a Celestron Advanced Astro Master. Non-Go-To. Push to only. From what I have read SkyX is compatible but please confirm.

Mount #2,

Celestron CI-700 with a Ramona Technology GOII (go-to) system.

In the 2001 Ramona instruction manual, it states the system is compatible with "The Sky" but of course that was 2001. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Info from Ramona manual.

From Ramona Tech:

Venus/Jupiter Conjunction

Hello!  I am researching the venus/Jupiter conjunction of 2 BC, as viewed from the Middle East.  I am particularly interested in the smallest separation distance during this conjunction.  When I run the Software, I keep getting different numbers for that, and none of them match what I see online (and am trying to verify) of 34 seconds.

Am I running the program wrong or is it not that sensitive, or what?  Please help!

Thanks,

The College that I teach for owns a 16 inch Cave Astrola telescope which is housed in a building from Ash Dome in Illinois. The 16 inch reflector telescope is on a German Equatorial mount with a 6 inch refractor attached to the side. We are considering upgrading to a mount with goto capabilities and wonder if your company can provide the needed hardware. If it will help, I can send photos of the telescope and the current mount.

Thanks,

Hello,

I purchased a SBIG ST-8300M with the FW8-8300 filter-wheel. The camera came with a  CD that contains CCDSoft software, however, the serial number was registered to the previous owner. How do I ensure I can register this to my ID and receive the necessary updates?

Thanks,

Hi,

The page "Dome Add On to TheSkyX Professional Edition" seems to indicate that the Dome Add-On is compatible with a lot of controllers.

Now, is it compatible with Maxdome II (because I do not know the controller type) ?

I am using a Mac running Sierra

Thanks,
