MKS 4000 died

I'm working with a 1928-vintage college telescope that was outfitted with an MKS 4000 and TheSky6 a number of years ago (long before I was involved).  The laptop running TheSky was replaced some months ago and the scope has not slewed/tracked properly ever since.  This is likely a configuration issue; however, the immediate problem is that while slewing (incorrectly) to an object the scope suddenly stopped and the control box is now (almost) completely dead.

When powering up the system, there is no beep and no LED indicator lights at all.  The fan on the MKS 4000 control box spins up and the red LED on the joystick works.  But nothing else does -- the USB port will not connect and the joystick will not move the instrument.

I removed the MKS 4000 control box from the system but there's no visible damage (at least nothing looks burned or broken).  My question is what are the options and costs for repairing/replacing the unit?  Return?  Replace?  Upgrade to a 5000 control box?

Thanks.
